The journal KILLING CANCER is one man's trek down the cancer trail. A frank, candid look at the disease and it's treatment from the patients viewpoint. L. J. Martin is a 2 time cancer survivor: prostate cancer, which kills 30,000 men a year in the United States; and throat cancer. A USA survey says only 16% of men between 65 and 70 who contract throat cancer survive. This is the story of what one man did to join those who survive.

Library Journal Review:

Martin, L.J. Killing Cancer: A Layman’s Look at Killing Cancer from a Two Time Cancer Survivor.
Novelist Martin (LJmartin.com) is a two-time cancer survivor, having licked both prostate cancer and cancer of the tongue. In this audio journal, he candidly recounts these battles, discussing his largely positive experiences with a variety of doctors in his home of Missoula, MT, and at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. He further explores alternative treatments, speaking in detail to advancements and setbacks in each, as well as provides diet and lifestyle tips for reducing the likelihood of cancer and to assist those dealing with the disease. Actor/writer Reed McColm (Together Again for the First Time) does an excellent job of conveying the story’s considerable underlying humor and charm. Heartily recommended for all individuals and families coping with these diseases. –
Stephen L. Hupp, West Virginia Univ. Parkersburg Lib.
