Barrister McClain has sworn to avenge his brother's death, and that means nailing the hide of Able Gate to the barn wall. But gunfighter and secret Cavalry agent Gate is laying low up Montana way. Gate is hiding with an assumed name as artist Abernathy T. Gatelatch. Even as McClain thundered into town with pistols smoking, the U. S. Cavalry had sent Gate away on a special mission. With a lovely lady now held hostage and the town under siege, Gate must find a way back to give McClain the showdown he's been looking for.
